In 2001 the Laguna II, an executive saloon which embodies ‘lifestyle-driven driving”, entered production. It was a time of great innovation, with many new features. options that allowed customers enjoy the full benefits of their vehicle.
However, the people who occupied these cars had to use their keys to open and close their doors. Renault engineers realized that this was a significant issue for many people.
The result was that they decided to incorporate a contactless keycard in their vehicles and create an application that allows users to unlock and start their cars by simply waving a hand. The key card is now present in two of three Renault vehicles. The car will open automatically when the card is in close proximity to the ignition barrel, or even the central console. This authentic Renault remote control key card (without the blade). It comes in a clamshell and is ready to be programmed using Abrites Diagnostics for Renault/ Dacia Software with the ProTAG Programmer.

We can repair or replace your Renault key card for just a fraction of The KeyLab retail cost.
The hands-free card first introduced in 2001 on the Laguna II saloon, which was designed to be the “lifestyle” car of the 21st century. But, despite a thorough design brief based on over thousands of customer interviews, which examined their lifestyles, habits, and expectations, Renault ran out of time to create prototypes and test all possible applications.
Fortunately, the lead of the product on Laguna II, Bernard Dumondel was in a hotel at the time. He was using his room key to open his car. He thought that the car key could be created using the same magnetic strip as the key.
In the years following the card was hailed as a groundbreaking invention, and it is now available in two out of three Renault vehicles. Renault has decided to make use of the latest features of smartphones to improve the hands-free card the fact that it appears they are about to replace it.
The keyless entry system
Renault’s hands free card was a pioneering piece of technology when it first came out 20 years ago. The exterior is identical however the technology has been improved to make it more user-friendly and more difficult to hack.
It can’t be used from outside to open doors or start the car unless the driver has activated it. The reason is that the radio signal antennas “around” the vehicle are programmed to detect the presence of the key outside or inside it. The key will still start the ignition from a distance however, it won’t unlock the doors. This is to ensure your safety.
Second, the wireless remote control transmissions used by the system use the rolling-code. This reduces the chance of security being compromised by someone intercepting and retransmitting a control message to gain access but does not eliminate the possibility completely. [1]
