Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Choose a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a large bin that will need to be emptying every so often.
There are also models that clean and charge themselves This feature could be essential for those who have children or pets. A lot of the top rated Robot vacuum performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don’t mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they’re very adept in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn’t able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. It’s also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren’t clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is filled or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its dirt into the station’s external dustbin and continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO’s battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It’s self-charging, self-navigating and — the most important feature of all — it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.
In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with best amazon vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as “Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom.” The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+’s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It’s got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households, but it also fits in well next to the coffee table or shelves where you can wave it around like an enchanted device.
The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to match the task at hand. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments as well as an wand. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR’s tests show. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. It’s still enough time to clean most of a typical-sized home however, it’s not enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it’s lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that’s a great choice for those who don’t have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice touch.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It’s not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, Top Rated Robot Vacuum is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled with your smartphone’s voice assistant. It’s also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It’s not a surprise that they are also among the top manufacturers of best robot vacuum for vinyl plank floors vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most expensive robot vacuum advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn’t particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It’s also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot’s cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or children when you’re away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that’s self-emptying and helps keep the robot’s dustbin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it’s picking up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and control the functions and Top Rated Robot Vacuum schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum’s battery and return it to its dock for charging at the push of the button. The app also allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so you can easily identify the areas where it’s focused or where it’s stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I’ve tried. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without registering the edge. The ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
